Cultural rights for everyone.

Feb 2012

Dear FRC,

Welcome to the first issue of Blue Notes for 2012.

We look forward to working with you over the coming year and as always value your feedback, suggestions and information about any community arts initiatives you are running in your community.

Our work this year will centre on family wellbeing, its focus to test how creative expression can nurture, foster and develop the parental/child relationship.

Children from middle-class and highly education families are more involved in cultural activities than those from the most disadvantaged families … (Growing up in Ireland 2012 see www.growingup.ie)

All the best for now
Gillian Keogan, Projects Support Leader

Over the coming months Blue Drum are developing a series of art workshops aimed at parents with children between the ages of 4 - 8 yr. olds. Consequently we are looking for an expression of interest from Family Resource Centres who will be able to bring together small Parent & Child groups to test and feedback developmental cultural activity workshops before they go out nationally. Blue Drum will facilitate these workshops and supply the materials on the day. The workshops will take place From Mid-April to July.

Participating FRC may also be asked to co-host with Blue Drum a regional launch of the worksheets, together with an exhibition of the Parent & Chid Workshops during the latter half of 2012.

If you would like to know more please contact Eleanor on 01 8771446
or bluedrum@ireland.com.

Deadline for expressions of interest is Thursday 1st March 2012
